Bergesdorf

September 21, 2007

Today I’ve been exploring Bergesdorf. It’s very beautiful here! It’s a pretty small town that is now a sort of sub urb to Hamburg and Juliane and Fionna lives here.
I went to se the castle, wich is pretty small and made in brown brick. But the garden is beautiful, and the roses are still in bloom! There was a really nice farmers market too. I bough a mohnschnecke, and I’m in love! They look like flat cinnamon rolls with icing on, but they are made with some kind of poppyseed and marzipan filling.

In the evening we went to Bergesdorf Oktoberfest. Nothing special really, some rides, a couple of beerstands and some foodstands. We bought a kind of pastry called Schmalzkuchen. It’s small deepffied dough pillows with powdered sugar on. It’s similar to a kind of pastry that my mom makes (but she uses regular grainy sugar to cover them in) but I don’t know of anything similar in english. The closest is doughnuts but it’s not quite right…

Tomorrow Juliane and Fionna are coming with me and will show me around some more :)
